Aims and Scope
The Journal of Epidemiology is the official open access scientific journal of the Japan Epidemiological Association. The Journal publishes a broad range of original research on epidemiology as it relates to human health, and aims to promote communication among those engaged in the field of epidemiological research and those who use epidemiological findings.
Open Access License Policy
The Journal of Epidemiology applies the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC-BY License) to all works we publish (read the human-readable summary or the full license legal code) on April 1, 2013. Under the terms of the CC-BY License, authors retain ownership of the copyright for their work but must allow anyone to download, reuse, reprint, modify, distribute, and/or copy articles in the Journal of Epidemiology, as long as the original authors and source are properly credited.
No further permission is required from the authors or publisher.
In most cases, appropriate attribution can be provided by simply citing the original article and providing the license terms, as in the following
example:
Fujino, Yoshihisa et al. (2013) Taxation Categories for Long-term Care Insurance Premiums and Mortality Among Elderly Japanese: A Cohort Study. Journal of Epidemiology 23(1):41-46 doi:10.2188/jea.JE20120011, licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported License.
If an item you plan to reuse is not part of a published article (e.g., an item created by a third party and quoted in the article), it should not be considered licensed for reuse under the CC-BY license unless otherwise noted. In such cases, you can only reuse an item under copyright exceptions such as fair use or quotation, except as stated in the applicable copyright law or any license terms indicated in the original work in which the item appeared. The CC-BY license was developed to facilitate open access to and free use of original works of all types. Applying this standard license to a work will ensure that it is freely and openly available.
